The range of design research and creative production of its faculty members distinguishes the Department of Design at The Ohio State University. Still, within this variety, common denominators exist. For instance, design is often a shared effort applied in service to others. Likewise, designers tend to excel at defining, imagining, visualizing, and mediating.
The with_ exhibition showcases some of the many ways that designers approach their research as a partnership, whether they work with other designers; with non-designers; with individuals; with communities; with technology; with their hands; with data; with time; with experiences; with the past; or with the future. By highlighting the cooperative and exploratory nature of design practices, this exhibition presents the wide-ranging potential of partnering with designers to solve problems or better still—to explore possibilities.
