Accessibility

We want all our guests to feel comfortable, safe, and valued. If you wish to request specific accommodations for any event or exhibition, please reach out to Director Merijn van der Heijden at vanderheijden.1@osu.edu or 614-292-8861. To ensure we can meet your needs, we would like to receive any requests two weeks in advance.

Whether it be at our physical gallery spaces or on our digital platform, we do our very best to offer equitable access to the arts and to support the entire spectrum of ability.

How to Get to Urban Arts Space

Ride the Bus: The COTA bus line offers convenient services from around Columbus directly into downtown, practically to our doorstep. Take the #102, #2, or #1 bus from a stop near you and get off at the High & State Street or High & Town Street stop. For mobile users download the transit app for an easier, more accessible route display.

Bus Directions to Urban Arts Space

Parking Garages: There are three parking garages near Urban Arts Space, as well as metered street parking. If you are coming to the Space for an evening event or program, most street parking is available after 6pm but spaces are limited. Recommended parking garages include:

  • Ohio Statehouse Parking Garage (Enter from westbound Broad Street or from Third Street). We recommend the Ohio Statehouse Parking Garage on Third Street when accessibility is a concern.
  • Riffe Center Parking Garage (Enter from Front Street)
  • Columbus Commons (City Center) Parking Garage

Parking at Urban Arts Space

Urban Arts Space is wheelchair accessible.

The Town Street entrance to Urban Arts Space is the most easily accessed. There are accessible parking meters on Front and Town Street, as well as the City Center Garage. There is a drop-off area in front of the State Theater on State Street, but this sidewalk is narrower.

Urban Arts Space will provide an ASL interpreter with two weeks’ notice.

Ohio State will provide ASL interpreters for our space. We are required to contact the university at least one week in advance to schedule an interpreter, so we ask for two weeks' notice from our guests in need of this service.
