Diane is first and foremost a storyteller, with a background in fiction writing and editing as well as a voracious appetite for reading the written word in all its forms. While completing her BA in English and psychology, she worked as a writing consultant at The Ohio State Writing Center. She has also served as an application reader with Ohio State’s Undergraduate Admissions and as a captioning specialist at the University of Georgia Disability Resource Center, among other positions in the university sphere.
Prior to joining Urban Arts Space, Diane spent over six years as a freelance developmental editor for individual clients as well as Story Garden Publishing, an indie fiction publisher. She writes fiction and poetry under the pen name Diane Callahan and is also the host of Quotidian Writer, a writing advice YouTube channel. Since 2022, she has served as the Fiction Editor for Consequence, an international literary journal that addresses the realities of war and geopolitical violence through literature and visual art.
A firm believer in free educational resources, Diane aspires to provide mentorship and opportunities for growth to all people, which is part of why she values working for Urban Arts Space. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion, particularly in creating a more accessible world and amplifying LGBTQIA+ voices.
